Trick or Treat!

This much sweets for a boy who doesn't even eat candies?! Yes, you heard it right. At 11 years old, he still hasn't eaten a candy.

Oh, sorry! I might be lying here. I remember there was one time he ate a lollipop (that was his first, really) exactly a year ago, Halloween time too. And he never had his second.

Of course he likes candies but he doesn't eat them. Candies are merely meant for satisfying his obsession for a collection of something he may fancy.
And what do we do with these? We share them with our neighbors and his friends in school. And they're just too glad and too stunned that there is a kid who's not a candy-lover. Not a chips-addict too! And never even tasted soda.

A mother asked how I did it so she'll do the same to her baby girl. Quite simple. I simply don't give him any chance to have a taste of anything too good that will make him crave for it.

And over time, he just got used to it. No matter how brightly colored and attractive a sweet may look like, he'll just shake his head sideways, his hand waving sideways too, and "No, no. Candy is not for Miggy," exactly how I said it a million times before.

20/20 Vision

Miggy's first eye examination. Still a 20/20 vision.

We went to Ideal Vision Center at SM Baguio for his sister's eye checkup to see if she needed another set of glasses or the old one she'd been wearing for almost four years would still do. And I thought, maybe I could make Miggy peep through the eye machine. Just maybe. At first, he didn't want to. After a few assurances from me and the doctor that it was going to be real quick and wouldn't hurt at all, he acquiesced.

A Nightly Routine

Miggy's nightly routine. Every bedtime is incomplete without lighting up his 3 favorite light-ups - Jerry sharpener, Patrick, and Hot Wheels.

Two Firsts

October 6, 2013 marks two monumental (well, for me!) firsts of his life: the use of glue gun and microwaving his popcorn.
For their G4 Science individual project, a diorama of aquatic animals, I taught him how to use the glue gun. He was careful not to touch the hot tip as per my instructions.

Excitedly waiting for his first microwave use, his very own popcorn.

My instructions, "Miguel, cook your popcorn for only 3.5 minutes. More than that will burn your popcorn. Okay, set the timer to 3.5 minutes." And he did.

What Am I? and It Isn't Riddles

I can say Moo and give milk too. What am I?

I will melt, so it me fast. When it's hot, I won't last. What am I?

I am round and you hit me with a bat. What am I?
